Day 6 and Groundhog Day is beginning

Sorry for the late post. We had problems getting online and then we gave up and went to bed (remember, we're 12 hours ahead here). Claire's fans apparently do not like to be kept waiting because our inbox is full of e-mails asking where our post is.

We played with Claire again in the conference room today, which is really not a great place to visit. In the middle of our visit, two of the babyhouse doctors came in and used the conference table for a meeting. We felt like we needed to be quiet so they could talk, and of course, Claire was having nothing to do with this “quiet time” stuff. She wanted to shriek and laugh and throw her keys across the room. We decided that the doctors could put up with it…she was having too much fun. There is a physical therapy room on the second floor that we’re going to request tomorrow. We’ve heard there are lots of toys in there and a giant ball pit. Claire’s a little small for that, but I’m sure not!

We only managed to take 40 pictures today…a record low. My mom e-mailed after yesterday’s post and said, “Do you play with this kid or just take pictures?” Yeah, yeah…we’ve been a bit over the top with the camera. One of our friends told us that if we took half as many photos of Claire as we do of Tucker and Riley, we’ll have the most photographed child ever. Mission accomplished. It’s a good thing we don’t have a fast enough connection to post video, or you all would really see how overzealous we are!

For dinner, we asked our interpreter to give us the name of a good restaurant with English menus. She recommended a Georgian restaurant (no, not Georgian as in fried chicken and boiled peanuts) and told us to plan on at least two hours for dinner. The food was excellent. We had shishlek (shish kebob), which came out on what appeared to be two giant swords. We wondered if she told us to plan on two hours because that’s how long it would take to consume that much food. We nearly called Asel to find out how to say “to go box.” Again, like the Russian restaurant we went to earlier this week, the music was very strange and completely didn’t fit the place. It sounded old cowboy songs, only with Russian lyrics. At least it wasn’t rap music, like they play in just about every other restaurant. I am pretty sure that if some of the patrons knew the lyrics to these songs, they’d be horrified. Some of the stuff is just so horribly inappropriate for public places that we can’t help but laugh.
